Cosmological perturbations on local systems

چکیده
We study the effect of cosmological expansion on orbits–galactic, planetary, or atomic–subject to an inverse-square force law. We obtain the laws of motion for gravitational or electrical interactions from general relativity–in particular, we find the gravitational field of a mass distribution in an expanding universe by applying perturbation theory to the Robertson-Walker metric. Cosmological expansion induces an (ä/a)~r force where a(t) is the cosmological scale factor. In a locally Newtonian framework, we show that the (ä/a)~r term represents the effect of a continuous distribution of cosmological material in Hubble flow, and that the total force on an object, due to the cosmological material plus the matter perturbation, can be represented as the negative gradient of a gravitational potential whose source is the material actually present. We also consider the effect on local dynamics of the cosmological constant. We calculate the perihelion precession of elliptical orbits due to the cosmological constant induced force, and work out a generalized virial relation applicable to gravitationally bound clusters.

Accelerating cosmological expansion from shear and bulk viscosity.
The dissipation of energy from local velocity perturbations in the cosmological fluid affects the time evolution of spatially averaged fluid dynamic fields and the cosmological solution of Einstein's field equations. We show how this backreaction effect depends on shear and bulk viscosity and other material properties of the dark sector, as well as the spectrum of perturbations. If sufficiently...
متن کاملA note on the wellposedness of scalar brane world cosmological perturbations
We discuss scalar brane world cosmological perturbations for a 3-brane world in a maximally symmetric 5D bulk. We show that Mukoyama’s master equations leads, for adiabatic perturbations of a perfect fluid on the brane and for scalar field matter on the brane, to a well posed problem despite the non local aspect of the boundary condition on the brane. We discuss in relation to the wellposedness...
متن کاملOrigin of Quasar Progenitors from the Collapse of Low-spin Cosmological Perturbations
We show that seeds for quasar black holes could have originated from the initial cosmological collapse of overdense regions with unusually small rotation. The gas in these rare regions collapses into a compact disk that shrinks on a short viscous time scale. Using an analytical model, we calculate the low-spin tail of the probability distribution of angular momenta for objects that collapse out...
متن کاملDoubly-gauge-invariant formalism of brane-world cosmological perturbations
We review the doubly gauge invariant formalism of cosmological perturbations in the Randall-Sundrum brane world. This formalism leads to four independent equations describing the evolution of scalar perturbations. Three of these equations are differential equations written in terms of gauge invariant variables on the brane only, and the other is an integro-differential equation describing non-l...
متن کاملConserved cosmological perturbations
A conserved cosmological perturbation is associated with each quantity whose local evolution is determined entirely by the local expansion of the Universe. It may be defined as the appropriately normalised perturbation of the quantity, defined using a slicing of spacetime such that the expansion between slices is spatially homogeneous. To first order, on super-horizon scales, the slicing with u...
